Courses / Training

For those who are interested to join in Indian Engineering Service examination must have successfully completed B.Tech or B.E. i.e. engineering from a recognized Indian university and M.Sc or equivalent for a few jobs. Their age must also be between 21 and 30 years at the time of application. For candidates who are interested in IES have to first appear for a written exam. The written exam is an elaborate three day exercise where in the day one is allocated for a 200 marks exam of two hours duration assessing student’s General Ability. The day two is allocated for Technical Paper II and Technical Paper III which is an objective type test for two hours each for a total 400 marks. Candidates can choose the technical subject of their choice from the available option of Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering. The day three is allocated for descriptive Technical Paper IV & descriptive Technical Paper V for two hours each for a total 400 marks. For candidates who qualify the written exam, are then called for the interview to assess the candidate suitability.

Unlike the private sector, the initial salary for a fresher is not that lucrative. However the perks and authority attached to the job profile makes up for the comparative low remunerations. Also unlike the private sector where the promotions take a lot of time and are uncertain, the jobs offered after clearing IES examination guarantee both. The initial salary of a fresher range between Rs. 21400-39000 per month excluding perks such as Residential quarters, official vehicle, free medical aid for both self and family etc.
