SSC Exam for Graduate Level

Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is an Indian organization having a nationwide network of 9 regional/sub-regional offices located at Allahabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Guwahati, Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi & Sub-regional offices located at Chandigarh & Raipur.

It conducts open examinations regularly for:

  • Graduate Level : Assistants, Auditors/ Jr. Accountants/ Upper Division Clerks, Divisional Accountants, Inspectors of Income Tax/ Central Excise, Sub-Inspectors in Central Police Organizations (CRPF, BSF, CISF, ITBP and SSB) and the CBI, Section Officer (Commercial) and Section Officer (Audit).
  • Higher Secondary Level: Stenographer Grade `C`, Stenographer Grade `D`, and Lower Division Clerks.

Direct interviews are held for some posts, called Selection Posts, after inviting applications through advertisements, as and when such vacancies are reported to the Commission. Some of such posts are Statistical Assistant, Store Keeper, Jr/Sr. Computers, Information Assistant, etc.

The Staff Selection Commission conducts Combined Graduate Level and Combined Matric Level examinations every year for various posts. Those candidates who qualify in prelims are eligible to appear in the Mains. Candidates qualifying in the Mains have to appear for an Interview. 


LIC better known as Life Insurance Corporation in India’s is a leading government own insurance company dealing in insurance sector along with the Private Life Insurance and General Insurance Companies.  It's a state-owned company where Government of India has 100% stake. LIC conducts exam regularly on all India bases for the recruitment of the candidates to various posts like:

  • Assistant Administrative Officers (AAO)
  • Apprentice Development Officers (ADO)
  • Financial Sales/ Service Executive
  • Direct Sales Executives


Staff Selection Commission 

The age limits are different for different posts and it can be confirmed from the notice of exam published in the Employment News/ Rozgar Samachar. Generally, the age limits are:

  •  18 to 27 years for general category.
  •  5 years in the upper age limit for SCs/STs and 40 years for SC/ST women.
  •  3 years for OBCs and 38 years for OBC women.
  •  10 years for physically handicapped candidates.
  •  35 years for widows, divorced women and judicially separated women for UR category.

The Notice of the exam may be consulted regarding age relaxations for Ex-servicemen and Departmental candidates.

Educational qualifications for Combined Graduate Level (CGL) examination are:

1. For Compiler: Bachelor’s Degree from any recognized University with Economics or Statistics or Mathematics as compulsory or elective subject.

2. For Statistical Investigator Grade – II: Bachelor’s Degree with Statistics as one of the main subjects OR Bachelor’s Degree with Mathematics (with Statistics as a papers studied in one year/ two years/ all three years as the case may be) as one of the main subjects  OR Bachelor’s Degree with Economics (with Statistics as a paper studied in one year/two years/ all the three years as the case may be) as one of the main subjects OR Bachelor’s Degree with Commerce (with Statistics as a paper studied in one year/ two years/ all the three years as the case may be) as one of the main subjects

3. All other Posts: Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or equivalent.

Educational qualifications for Combined Higher Secondary Level (10+2) examination is as follows:

The eligibility for Assistant Administrative Officers (AAO) is as follows:

  • Age limit: Minimum age shall be 21 years and maximum age shall not be more than 30 years. There are relaxations in upper age limit for SC/ ST/ OBC/ ECO/ SSRCO/ Person with disabilities/ confirmed LIC employees.
  • Education qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognized Indian University/ Institution.

The eligibility for Apprentice Development Officers (ADO):

  • Regarding age limit: Same as that of Assistant Administrative Officers (AAO).
  • Regarding education qualification: For Employees category and Agents category in both urban and rural area- Applicant shall possess the Bachelor’s Degree of a University in India established under a statute or a foreign university approved for the purpose or the fellowship of Insurance Institute of India, Mumbai.

The On-line test will be of objective type. The test will be of two hours duration, comprising of following two papers:

  • Test of Reasoning and Numerical Ability.

For Assistant Administrative Officers (AAO):

The Basic pay of Assistant Administrative Officers (AAO) is 17240/- per month in the scale of 17240- 840(14) –29000– 910(4) –32640. For more details Click here

For Apprentice Development Officers (ADO):

Apprentice Development Officer (ADO) during his/her apprentice period, gets the stipend of Rs.19,165/- per month as per present rules of the Corporation, except in case of candidates selected from LIC Employees category.

On appointment as a Probationary Development Officer, the basic pay is of Rs. 11,535/- per month (except for Employee category candidates) in the scale of 11,535-700(2)-12, 935-825(2)-14, 585-840(17)-28, 865. For more details Click here


Staff Selection Commission

Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is one of the most efficient recruitment commissions set up by the Government of India. It conducts numerous recruitments all over India, for various government jobs.  

The successful candidates passing Combined Graduate Level (CGL) examination will be appointed as Group ‘B’ and ‘C’ staff in either of the following Department/Office:

  • Central Secretariat Clerical Service
  • Armed Forces Headquarters Clerical Service
  • Grade VI of the I.F.S. Branch "B" Clerical Service and
  • Central Vigilance Commission Clerical Service

The successful candidates passing Combined Higher Secondary Level Examinations will be appointed as Group ‘C’ staff in either of the following Department/Office:
