ICAI CA-CPT Exam
It is an entry level test for ICAI Chartered Accountancy Course, which is held twice a year in June and December for registered students of Common Proficiency Course (CPC). A student who registers to CPT course on or before 1st April will be eligible to appear in June CPT examination and student who registers on or before 1st October will be eligible to appear in December.
Admission Registration Procedure for CA-CPT Exam
The students who wish to do ICAI CA course has to first get themselves registered for Common Proficiency Course (CPC). It is interesting to note that 10th passed students can also get themselves registered but they can give exam only after clearing 12th. Registration for admission in ICAI Common Proficiency Course (CPC) can be done online as well as offline. For offline registration a student can buy a Prospectus from all Regional Offices/ Branches of the Institute by remitting Rs.100/-. The Application form for Registration to the course is available with the Prospectus.
For online registration the application form can be downloaded from Institute’s website www.icai.org; if Registration Form is downloaded from Institute’s website it charges Rs. 100/- for the same.
When are they providing study material? Is the cost is included in the fees structure (rs6000) or do they charge extra?
The Board of Studies provides a comprehensive reading material including large question bank. In addition, Volume I & II of the Model Test Papers are also being supplied to the students with study materials.
Educational qualification for Common Proficiency Course (CPC)
Students who wish to pursue Chartered Accountancy Course can register for the Common Proficiency Course (CPC) after passing 10th examination and can appear in the CPT either on appearing or passing 10+2 examination.

*The qualifying mark is 50%. A student has to remember that CPT is an objective type test with a negative marking of 0.25 marks for selecting wrong option.

Registration for ICAI Common proficiency test (CPT)
A student has to follow the examination notification to be issued by the Examination Department of the ICAI and apply in the prescribed form either on-line or physical form. CPT fee for on-line application form is Rs. 500/- and physical form examination fee of Rs. 1000/- (inclusive cost of application form & exam fee). The Examination Department will notify the date of CPT and examination centers and issue admit card against examination application form received. CPT fee is subject to change from time to time.
CPC students should have valid registration before applying for relevant CPT. Common Proficiency Course (CPC) registration is valid for 3 years. Students can revalidate their registration any number of times before expiry of valid registration period by paying Rs. 300/-. Revalidation of registration shall be done for further period of 3 years before expiry of initial registration.

Students after passing CPT can join for next level of Chartered Accountancy Course.
