Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University invites application for Common Entrance Test (IPU CET) for various courses in Law.  It offers B.A.LLB (Integrated) and BBA LLB (Integrated) for undergraduate students and LLM; LLM (Cyber Law & Cyber Crime); LLM (Intellectual & Industrial Property Law) both under abbreviated name LLMW for post graduate students. The online application begins from 30th January 2016.

Selection Procedure: The University will declare and display the ranks of only those candidates who are declared as qualified in the CET-2016. The candidates will be called for counseling/admission depending upon the number of seats available in each programme. The admissions will be made only out of these qualified candidates strictly in order of merit. The rank of candidates who do not qualify in CET-2016 will not be declared.

The Exam

The exam is paper based.

Eligibility for undergraduate programme

  • Age Eligibility:  On 1st August 2016 candidate should not be beyond 21 years.
  • Educational Qualification

Pass in 12th Class of 10+2 of CBSE or equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and must also have passed English (core or elective or functional) as a subject.

*Aggregate of 50% marks in the 12th class for the purpose of eligibility will be taken as the aggregate of best four subjects including one language and compulsory subject(s), if any. These compulsory subjects will vary for various programmes. The details of compulsory subject(s) whatever applicable will be notified on university website before start of the counseling.

The Pattern of Exam for Undergraduate courses: The Pen paper based written exam on  (i) English Language & comprehension, ii) Gk  (iii) Legal Aptitude iv) Reasoning   (Time duration of 2 hrs and 30 minutes )

*There will be negative marking and the negative marking scheme of examination for a particular CET shall be specified in question booklet.

Eligibility for Postgraduate programme

  • Age Eligibility: On 1st August 2016 candidate should not be beyond 35 years.
  • Educational Qualification

LL.B. Degree as required by the Bar Council of India for enrolment as an advocate or an equivalent law degree from a foreign university, in either case with not less than 50% marks.

Admission Criteria: Admission to be made on the basis of a merit list prepared as follows:

  1. Non-CET mode on the basis of performance in the qualifying examination – 50%
  2.  Interview – 30%
  3.  Year - wise Professional Experience – 20%. Interview shall be conducted by the committee constituted by Dean, University School of Law and Legal Studies with the approval of the Vice Chancellor, GGSIPU. The final Merit list to be prepared by a committee constituted by Dean, University School of Law and Legal Studies and shall be declared by the Dean, University School of Law and Legal Studies on the University website http://www.ipu.ac.in

The Pattern of Exam for Post graduate courses: Pen paper based written exam on (i) General Knowledge (including English Language) (ii) Jurisprudence, Constitutional Law, Law of  Torts, Criminal Law, Commercial  Law &  Family Law (iii) Public International Law, Human Rights  Law and Environment Law (iv) Current Trends in Law (Time duration 2 hours and 30 minutes)

*There will be negative marking and the negative marking scheme of examination for a particular CET shall be specified in question booklet.

How to apply

  • Candidates need to apply online through official website of www.ipu.ac.in
  • Candidate has to upload scanned photograph and signature
  • Candidate should note the generated log id and password for future reference.
  • After the application for any CET is submitted, if there is any mistake in date of birth, spelling mistake in name of applicants or the parents name or in the choice of category claimed for the purpose of availing reservation, the applicant must submit an application in physical form (together with applicable processing fees of Rs. 500/-) to: Reception, Examination Division, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi. This application must be submitted within 5 working days of the last date of form submission together with the applicable fees. After this no request for any correction shall be entertained.
  • Candidate has to deposit a nonrefundable Rs 1000/- plus charges as applicable, as one time (non refundable) Counseling Participation Fee, as per the schedule for each CET Code.
  •  For depositing the Counseling Participation Fee, the candidate has to visit the GGSIP University admission website http://www.ipuadmissions.nic.in and select the option for “payment of counseling participation fee”, enter CET details viz CET Roll No, Date of Birth and Mobile Number.
  •  After submission of the requisite details, the candidate will get two options of payment: i. Cash payment (challan will be generated and fee may be deposited through cash in any branch of Indian Bank) ii. Net Banking /Credit Card and Debit Card.
  • The candidates are required to check the status of fee payment on the website (http://www.ipuadmissions.nic.in) and must take the printout of online fee confirmation receipt with the transaction details, to be retained for all future reference.
  •  In case of payment of fee through Challan, the candidate must retain the copy of the Challan after depositing the fees.
  • If the fee is paid through credit/debit card and status is not ‘OK’, it means the transaction got cancelled and the amount will be refunded to concerned credit/debit card. Such candidates have to pay the fee once again.
  •  In case of any problem regarding payment of fees, non availability of fee confirmation receipt on the website within the specified time then candidate can contact Helpdesk of University to resolve the issue.
  •  Submission of registration fees is just a part of the counseling process; just payment of this fees does not entitle the candidate to admission.
  • Applicants should retain a printout of the CET application form as proof of application.
